Cat Sitting:

Cats do best at home. A familiar space, a predictable routine, and a sitter who knows what they're doing matters more to your cat than it might seem. MixyPaws provides in-home cat sitting across all of Manhattan below 110th Street, with bonded, insured, employee-based sitters who treat your cat's visit like it's the only one on their schedule.

Whether you're traveling for a few days, back in the office full-time, or dealing with an unexpected trip, our cat sitters cover feeding, litter, fresh water, and real interaction. No 10-minute check-ins and a photo for the app. Every visit runs 30, 45, or 60 minutes, and you get a full update from your sitter after each one.

Every MixyPaws cat sit covers the basics and the extras that actually matter to your cat's wellbeing.

  • Dedicated playtime, petting, and brushing based on what your cat actually enjoys

  • Full written update with photos after each visit

  • Medication administration for cats on health routines (confirm availability at booking)

  • Sitters who follow your cat's specific preferences, whether that's lap time or space

Cat Sitting Visit Lengths

30-Minute Cat Visit

The right fit for independent cats who are comfortable alone and primarily need a feeding, a clean litter box, and a quick check-in. Covers food, water, litter, and a short interaction session.

45-Minute Cat Visit

Suited for cats who want more company or have a slightly longer feeding and care routine. The extra time allows for a real play session and more observation, which is useful for senior cats or cats prone to stress when left alone.

60-Minute Cat Visit

Best for multi-cat households, cats on medication, cats with anxiety or special needs, or any situation that benefits from a longer, unhurried visit. Gives the sitter time to manage feeding for multiple cats, administer medication carefully, and provide thorough attention before leaving.

Why In-Home Cat Sitting Beats Boarding

Boarding facilities work for some pets. For cats, the research points the other way. The ASPCA notes that cats are strongly territorial and become stressed in unfamiliar environments with unfamiliar animals. A boarding kennel puts your cat in an entirely foreign space surrounded by the sounds and smells of other stressed animals.

In-home sitting keeps your cat in their territory, on their schedule, with their furniture and their smells intact. For cats with anxiety, senior cats, multi-cat households, or any cat on a medical routine, in-home care is the lower-stress choice by a wide margin. The visit comes to your cat instead of the other way around.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • In many cases, yes. Our office team can often accommodate short-notice requests, particularly for existing clients. For new clients, we ask for at least 24–48 hours to confirm a sitter and arrange home access. Reach out directly so we can check availability for your timeline.

  • Yes, for many types of medication, including oral, topical, and some injections. Confirm your cat's specific medication needs when you reach out to book, so we can match you with a sitter who has relevant experience. We do not recommend leaving medication administration to chance; discuss it during the meet and greet.

  • We aim for consistency. Returning clients are matched with the same sitter whenever possible. For longer trips, we schedule backup coverage so a last-minute sitter change doesn't leave your cat without care. Your sitter's name and contact will be confirmed before the first visit.

  • Yes. Multi-cat households are common in Manhattan, and our sitters are experienced handling them. For two or more cats, we recommend the 60-minute visit to give enough time for individual feeding, litter management for multiple boxes, and real attention for each cat.

  • We'll go over everything during a meet and greet before the first visit. Generally: key or building access sorted in advance, food and litter supplies stocked, your vet's contact information on file, and a care sheet covering your cat's routine, preferences, and any behavioral notes. We send a care sheet template after you book.

  • Yes. Overnight stays, where a sitter spends the night in your apartment, are available through our pet sitting service. This is the right option for cats with significant separation anxiety, senior cats who need close monitoring, or any multi-day trip where you want continuous coverage.
